Terre D' Hermes EDT, Hermes, Reformulation Guide

Vintage Decants

Identify and explain:

Hello fragrance fam! On todays episode of "Identifying the vintage" were talking about the aromatic woody masterpiece that is Terre D' Hermes!

This is a dominant iso-e-super fragrance. If your unfamiliar with that note, I would compare the smell with something like a fizzy sawdust...? Since Terre D Hermes is modern, most batch codes will match up through a batch code website. Unfortunately, most sellers wont include pictures of this code in their listings since it's etched on the back of the bottle.
From 2006-2010 approximately, the box it came in had the Hermes horse on the front of the box, afterwards it was removed. These batches have a more pronounced flint note than the rest.
2010-2016 the front of the bottle had no text on it, except for the logo. After 2016 "Eau De Toilette" was typed on the front of the bottle.

Generally all of those batches were great, and I would generalize the older the batch, the higher the concentration will be of Iso-E-Super, and also have better longevity.
2016-2023 batches Are good too, they're weaker, but the scent still smells somewhat the same.
After 2023 there was a considerable reformulation due to Ifra's amendment 49 (Passed in 2020, but the reformulated perfumes started to hit the market in roughly 2023) decreasing the amount of Iso-E-Super permitted. These batches definitely smell altered. In my opinion I would pursue any batch that pre-dates 2016!
Hope this helps, enjoy the journey!
