EAU Sauvage EDT, Dior, Reformulation Guide
Vintage DecantsIdentify and explain:
Hello fragrance fam, on today's reformulation guide were covering Eau Sauvage EDT by Dior!
Known for its classic Eau De cologne style scent, that includes bright citruses amidst herbal and floral notes. EAU has always been a mild scent with new versions getting 3-4 hours of longevity, and older versions at 4-5 hours.
To keep things simple we're going to categorize our list into three main reformulations.
1. Pre-1980s: These are EDC formulations. The box will be brown with the words "pour homme for men" on the front. In these versions they have a more pronounced sweet musk note. The liquid will often be light yellow.
2. 1980-2005: These are EDT concentrations, they come in a brown box that will have "Eau de Toilette" typed on the box and bottle. In these versions the basenotes like basil, vetiver and sandalwood are more balanced. The liquid will often be a deep yellow.
3. Post 2004: These versions come in a white box, with "Eau de toilette" removed from the front of the text on the bottle. Often the color of the liquid will be a pale almost clear yellow. In these versions the basenotes have been turned down, and the citrus and white floral notes turned up.
Hope this helps, and enjoy the journey!
