Hello fragrance fam, on
today's reformulation guide were covering Polo Sport for Men by Ralph Lauren EDT.
Sport, is an aromatic scent with aquatic touches. It's similar to scents like Cool Water by Davidoff.
Sport has received many reformulations throughout the years. But In terms of the best versions of Sport, we can summarize it into two categories.
1. Pre-2006: The batches produced by Cosmair are the most well regarded. They should have a higher concentration of notes like oakmoss and aquatic notes in the formula. The atomisers on these bottles will be chrome and on the batch/box it will have "natural spray" typed.
2. Post-2006 (May also have Luxury Product batches that overlap with cosmair versions 2000-2006): These batches will all be manufactured by Luxury Products. Every bottle will now have blue atomisers instead of chrome. On the box/bottle it will say "Spray vaporizer" instead of natural spray.
*I know there were mass fragrance reformulations around 2008, 2016 and 2022, so I would consider the older the versions, closer to the original scent profile. Modern batch codes can be checked via a batch website online. Often with shorter codes meaning older bottles, 6 digits or less.
