Chanel Cuir de Russie EDT, is a spicy leather fragrance. It smells like a smoky, buttery leather glove infused with airy florals and crisp aldehydes. Although originally marketed to women, the fragrance is now widely considered unisex. In this specific batch, birch tar replaced the castoreum used in the original formulation. It provides a smooth and refined spicy aroma, smelling more like a polished saddle—woven with iris, jasmine, and a faint tobacco-tinged softness that feels aristocratic and quietly sensual. As it dries down, the leather becomes creamy, almost skin-like, leaving a dry down of faint woods and a powdery elegance that defines the house’s classic Russian leather signature.
